Rheoric out on the town
Today in class there were a lot of interesting advertisements that really showed how rhetoric is used in our everyday lives. I really like Tony's advertsiment with the non-alcoholic beer. No girl could possibly look that attractive while she is pregnant unless she diest and works out like crazy, which would be bad for the baby in the first place. Then on the side, you see that it is a non-alcohlic beer, and that it will not hurt the baby. Another good picture was one by Kendal Lewis, and how the Village of Westclay creates that old town feeling. This is interestng since every time I drive into Westclay, I feel like I'm in the Stepford Wives movie. The creators of neighborhoods like these all want us to feel like we have a perfect little house, in a perfect neighborhood, with a little city hall int eh center of thsi neighborhood. This is not a bad thing since they are literally selling you a lifestyle. There were a lot of other good presentations that stuck out in my mind, these were the two that really made me think the most though.
